George L. Hayes
George Leonard Hayes, originally from Washington, D.C., now calls Atlanta, Georgia home. For most of his career, he’s devoted himself to educating and mentoring youth and young adults — helping them find direction, discipline, and a sense of who they are. That same discipline shaped him as a professional boxer, where focus and perseverance weren’t optional; they were survival.
Those two worlds — mentoring kids and training as a fighter — meet on the page. George writes to explore spiritual themes and invite readers to reconnect with their deeper selves and their Creator. His work carries the simplicity of the Gospel at its core, encouraging readers to live out its truth in ordinary, everyday moments.
A Storyteller With a Deeper Purpose
George didn’t set out to write a children’s story. He set out to capture something he’d spent years watching disappear in the young people he mentored — that unguarded, wide-eyed way of experiencing the world before life teaches you to armor up. Through A Child’s Eyes grew out of classrooms, gyms, and conversations with kids who reminded him, again and again, what it looks like to feel everything fully — the good and the hard — without yet knowing how to numb it. Writing became his way of holding onto that, and handing it to readers of every age.
My Mission
To help readers — young and grown — rediscover the wonder, gratitude, and quiet spiritual awareness that childhood makes so natural and adulthood makes so easy to lose. Through storytelling grounded in nature, family, and faith, George writes books that meet readers exactly where they are and gently point them toward something deeper.
My Vision
A world where children are given the language to name what they feel, and adults are given permission to feel it again. George envisions his work as a bridge — connecting generations through stories that are simple enough for a child to love and honest enough for an adult to sit with.
